Nothing is more dangerous than asking someone, “Hey, have you ever thought about doing a podcast?”
Like us, you’ve probably had an idea for a show but were too scared of editing your own voice, technologically inept, or daunted by the vast number of podcasts that inundate Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc., to do anything with it. “I mean, someone must have imagined this and done it already, right?” you might have asked yourself.
Well, sure. There are podcasts featuring role-playing games, current and past television shows, comedy routines that may have been better off never leaving the club, and seemingly every A- to D-list celebrity in Hollywood. How could there possibly be room for more?
The podcast scene is missing something important though. Your voice. You’ve got something to say, and, to paraphrase As Told To host Daniel Paisner, sometimes you need a little help saying it.
That’s why we started the Writer’s Bone Podcast Network. We kicked things off with NovelClass and Pop Literacy, two shows we’d listen to religiously even if we weren’t producing them. And through those experiences we discovered more hosts-in-hiding who didn’t need a whole lot of prodding to sit in front of a microphone (looking at you Film Freaks Forever!). We’ve added quite a few writer-ish shows since then and we have a few more in the hopper that are bound for your airwaves in the near future.
If any of this is starting to turn your podcast itch into a rash, we’ve got you covered (unless it’s an actual rash; go see a doctor). Shoot us an email, send us a message on your preferred social media channel, whatever suits you. We can’t wait to hear from you! Let’s make something awesome.
And if you’re a business looking to reach a smart, active, and hungry audience, we would love to talk to you and find the right fit within our network of podcasts. We love connecting our listeners to businesses that can help them improve. And free stuff. We love free stuff, too. Like coffee. We need to keep Friday Morning Coffee host Caitlin Malcuit caffeinated so she can keep fighting the good social justice fight. Visit our advertising page for more details.
So, with all that being said, as we often do on our flagship show Writer’s Bone, let’s go back to the beginning. Have you ever thought about hosting a podcast?
