Author and sportswriter Mike Sielski joins Daniel Ford on the show to discuss his new book Magic in the Air: The Myth, the Mystery, and the Soul of the Slam Dunk.
“The dunk took you into all these different places. The rise of the NBA. The Civil Rights era. The fact the dunk was banned in high school and college basketball in 1967. The more I dug, the more interesting, rich, textured stories I found that connected basketball to American society all through this prism of the slam dunk.”
